I find Hypoglycemia is more common than people thing. For those that are aware of theirs you can
often spot it in others very quickly.
Below are some basic information for health Awareness.
* The term hypoglycemia literally means "under-sweet blood"
* Hypoglycemia can produce a variety of symptoms and effects but the
principal problems arise from an inadequate supply of glucose as fuel
to the brain.
* For most practical purposes, the brain is dependent on a continual
supply of glucose diffusing from the blood into the interstitial tissue
within the centrual nervous system.
* Brief or mild hypoglycemia produces no lasting effects on the brain,
though it can temporarily alter brain responses to additional
hypoglycemia. Prolonged, severe hypoglycemia can produce lasting damage
of a wide range. This can include impairment of cognitive function,
motor control, or even consciousness.
*Long term low sugar for any reason or emergency situation can cause: a coma, or death,
always be prepared in emergencies, Keep your doctor notified when in
the hospital or any other serious visit, alway carry health snacks on a
long road or travel trip. Even a plane flight can be nerve racking if they do not serve meals or snacks,
so always keep things in your carry bag with the ipod and laptop. Some
Flight attendants can be irritated and not realize your situation if
your plane does not serve, you are responsible before the flight. For business trips, first class may be an option too {meals}.
*The Extreme of coma or death will not happen unless you are trapped in a terrible situation without food supplies.
*Daily Never skip meals.
* Hypoglycemic symptoms and manifestations include:
Shakiness,
anxiety, nervousness, tremor, feeling of warmth, Feeling of numbness,
coldness, clamminess, Negativism, irritability, belligerence,
combativeness, anger, Staring, "glassy" look, blurred vision,
Difficulty speaking, slurred speech, incoordination, sometimes mistaken
for being drunk or on drugs.
*Long Term Solutions may include: having many small meals a day, not fatty but healthy and low in
calories. We are not trying to cause another problem. snacking on
fruits and veggies work too.
*Quick Fixes include: Orange Juice, Soda Drinks, Crackers and Cheese, avoid high sugars and
candy *not good results, Protein Bars or snacks similar to active
Individuals, anything with Good protein works wonders.
These
are only suggestions, please see your Family Doctor if you feel you are
extreme Hypoglycemic. Some cases need dose of insulin or other
medications. Some Health Food Stores may have other suggestions also in
Alternative and Holistic Medicine.
